Griffons are a sentiant species commonly found outside of Equestria, and is the prime species from Griffonstone.
Physical Anatomy[]
Griffons as a species are fairly large when compared to Ponies, though still are dwarfed by other animals such as Dragons. The average size of a Griffon is usually about four to five feet tall. A distinguishable detail most Griffons have is the body-split between bird and mammal. Typically the frontal half of a Griffon resembles a bird of prey (Falcon, Eagle, Owl, etc.), with the lower half of the body mirroring that of a large feline (Lion, Tiger, Leopard, etc.), though forms of Griffons outside of the standard look are known to exist.
Coloration of Griffons aren't as vibrant as other species, usually varying from grey, brown, black, white, and on occasion duller greens, blues, and reds. While varying in appearance, they're not as extravagant, and it's usually the bird part of the body that exhibits unique colors rather than the lower half.

Griffons were once a very proud race, under a ruling similar to Equestria in a hierarchy, ruled under a Griffon king. This type of ruling seemingly lasted for, at the very least, fourteen generations of kings before the entire concept became lost. How it exactly happened is unknown as of now.
As a society, Griffons had been presented as a rather uncaring sorts, and most actions a Griffon does is done with payment of bits, as they won't aid another otherwise. It means little to most Griffons on what others' opinions are, nor show much care to others as it doesn't amount to much. Many of their rules contradict typical Pony culture: even having a rule that straight up says one can not sing there, pointed out by Gilda just before Pinkie Pie could start singing.
