Lord Akira is a male Kirin, and the current main ruler of the country of Neippon. Thanks to involvement by Junsui, he was temporarily transformed into a Umakumo.
Appearance
Lord Akira is a tall Kirin, same height as Celestia. He has brown scales that cover his head, neck, down to the end of his tail. On his belly and legs is golden fur, each leg ending in brass hooves. He also has deer antlers, which are described as highly regal, ending in five points.
History
Many moons ago, prior to the series, Lord Akira was overthrown by Junsui as ruler of Neippon, after she used a spell on him to transform him into an infamous Umakumo - a creature of Neippon legend. According to the notes left in the Umakumo's cave, he still retained some bit of his sanity until he eventually lost it from his time as a monster.
Season 3
He mainly appears as an Umakumo within the mountain caves near the main village of Neuippon. Junsui sent many warriors after him and, while as the Umakumo, destroyed all of them and many of which disappeared, including Shinrin and Firudo's father.
After Junsui was driven away, he was seemingly turned back to normal in part thanks to Ion.
Season 4
In "Knight in the Dragon's Lair", he invites the Gems involved with its freedom back to Neippon with a gift in mind in the form of fireworks. Before he could give it to them though, Kyra came to see him, pulling him away so he can discuss matters with him. Kyra asks him to help him in handling the Darastrix current ruler Porath, but he refuses saying he doesn't want to risk conflict between races.
My Little Universe II
In "Peaks of Peril", he appears as an escort for Twilight Sparkle to the Peaks of Peril, wanting to repay her and her friends for what they've done for him. On the way, he explains to them on the local Kirin, and about Rain Shine to prepare them for interacting with the locals. Upon arrival though, he learns that the Kirin were all effected by the Stream of Silence, and shows disappointment towards Rain Shine for her actions, saying he really doesn't want to have to remove her from her position as leader. During the stay he also aids Twilight in dealing with her thoughts on Rain Shine as Celestia, concluding that she only needs time to fix her issue.
